Patna, Sep 18 (SocialNews.XYZ) A 73-year-old man was killed in Bihar’s Bhojpur district after allegedly being assaulted by his younger brother during a family dispute linked to superstition.
Police said the incident took place in Mithaha village under Dhangai police station limits. The deceased, identified as Hiralal Ram, son of the late Rabar Ram, sustained a severe head injury in the attack and died at his home on Friday morning.
According to family members, Hiralal was attacked with sticks and clubs by his younger brother, Lalbabu Ram, following a quarrel. The dispute reportedly stemmed from Lalbabu’s belief that his daughter’s death two-and-a-half years ago was linked to Hiralal’s occult practices as a traditional healer and exorcist.
On Thursday night, Hiralal went to Lalbabu’s house, where the argument escalated into violence. Family members said Hiralal was struck on the back of his head, taken home in critical condition, and later succumbed to his injuries.
Police reached the village after being informed, took custody of the body, and sent it to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. Officials said the accused has been absconding since the incident.
Bhojpur police confirmed they are awaiting a formal written complaint from the family before proceeding with further legal action, including efforts to arrest Lalbabu Ram.
